1. Global Search Engine.

After installing this module, a search icon will be displayed in the header. Click on the icon to access and use the search functionality.

2. Searching Model Records.

Here, you can see that we searched for “des,” and all related records from different models are retrieved and displayed in organized groups.

3. Open Record.

Here, you can see that we have opened a contact record from the search results.

4. Configure Model Search.

If you want users to search records from specific models only, you can configure those models in the Global Search settings. Once configured, users will be able to search records only from the selected models.

5. Recent Search history.

Here, you can view your recent search history and remove any specific search entry if needed.

6. Configured Search.

As configured, the search results now display records only from the Contact model.

What does this module do?

This module adds a centralized global search bar in Odoo that allows users to search records across multiple models from a single interface.

Do I need to configure anything after installation?

No. The module works immediately after installation. By default, users can search across all available models without any configuration.

How does user-based configuration work?

You can define which models each user is allowed to search.
If a user is configured:
- Only selected models appear in search results
If a user is not configured:
- They can search across all models

Can I restrict access to specific models?

Yes. You can control model visibility per user to ensure that users only access relevant data.

Can users navigate search results using the keyboard?

Yes. The module supports keyboard navigation:
- Arrow keys to move through results
- Enter to open a record
- Escape to close the search panel

Does it support recent searches?

Yes. The module stores recent searches to help users quickly repeat previous queries.

Does it display images in search results?

Yes. If a model supports images (e.g., contacts or products), a preview is displayed in the results.
